Simpsons back with another fun-packed DVD
“Newlyweds” continue to explore marriage, selves on television
The first season of “Newlyweds” may have contained some of the most outrageous Jessica Simpson quotes, but in the next two seasons, she proved she still is learning something new every day.

The first season of “Newlyweds” may have contained some of the most outrageous Jessica Simpson quotes, but in the next two seasons, she proved she still is learning something new every day.

Released June 7, the three-DVD set contains all 10 episodes from each of seasons two and three, as well as more than 10 hours of bonus footage. DVD extras include deleted scenes, a time line of Nick and Jessica’s relationship, a special feature about Jessica’s birthday and, like the first season DVD, special moments with Nick and Jessica.

The second season starts off with Nick and Jessica’s first anniversary, in an episode which they try to participate in Oktoberfest, but fail to fit in as everyone else there is at least 50 years older than they are. The season continues with Nick turning 30, and Jessica proving how much money she can spend. She and her mom go on a shopping spree that ends with bed sheets costing more than $1,000. This is not a humbling episode for the couple – they decide to watch a video, and sift through what looks like hundreds of DVDs they own – Jessica’s never even heard of half of them.

Other episodes in the first of three DVD’s in this collection include Nick and Jessica trying to speak French, a family Christmas, puppy shopping and plenty of attention on Jessica while Nick gets the shaft. It’s pretty unbelievable when Nick plays one of his Christmas songs for Jessica and she laughs at him. Even obsessed Jessica fans will be embarrassed by how much of a brat she is in the episode titled, “A Newlyweds Christmas.” It always is entertaining to watch Nick and Jessica. Average couples can sit and watch in awe as this couple argues about everything, but still loves each other so much. Maybe opposites really do attract.

The second disc in the collection is even better than the first. It includes the last few episodes of the second season and the beginning of the third season, where Jessica’s best friend Cacee Cobb moves in with the couple. Three proves to be a crowd right away and Nick obviously wants Cacee out from the beginning. On this disc, Nick and Jessica start to deal with the downfalls of celebrity, and have problems with pesky fans. One of the funniest episodes on this disc is called “Eye Surgery,” in which Jessica and Cacee get Lasik Eye Surgery and then try to go out to lunch.

The last of the three discs contains the final four episodes and special features. One of the best things about this release is the amount of special features compared to the first season’s DVD. They are just as funny as the episodes themselves.
