Help us tell your stories in our pages The Daily Evergreen listens to your stories.
We seek them out. We need them. The Daily Evergreen Published: 08/18/2006 The Daily Evergreen listens to your stories. We seek them out. We need them. We want to hear your voices, your adventures, your triumphs and your tragedies when necessary. We are storytellers and historians at the Evergreen. But we often need your help to create an accurate representation of our community. Our staff feels a strong duty to serve readers and their interests within the WSU and Pullman community. We feel that duty because we belong to this community. Our reporters take the same classes as our readers. Our photographers walk the same streets as the City Council. The Evergreen is developing several new projects to better convey the stories on our campus and in our city. We will be experimenting in print and at www.dailyevergreen.com to tell stories in new ways. Readers should play a large role in these projects. This fall we will strive to tell the stories behind the people in the headlines. We will aggressively pursue stories vital to public interest. And we will aim to act as an ethical, transparent and accountable public forum. Those are our responsibilities as the student voice for WSU. Your involvement is essential to the function and integrity of The Daily Evergreen as a public forum. You can always offer feedback or story ideas to any of the section editors listed on Page 2 of the newspaper. All of our editors and reporters can be contacted through e-mail addresses on the Web site. Or stop by the newsroom in Murrow East 122. The newsroom is open to the public and we enjoy meeting our readers whether you have a concern or want a job. Readers are also welcome to attend the weekly editor’s lunch at noon on Wednesdays throughout the semester. Lunches will be held at a table in The Bookie lodge area. Anyone can bring story ideas, comments or questions about our coverage or potential jobs at the newspaper. I can be contacted any time through editor@dailyevergreen.com or at (509) 499-9249. My office is inside the newsroom. Tell us what you want in your community newspaper. Your input can help us provide stronger, more thorough coverage of WSU and Pullman. Your stories, your lives fill the pages of The Daily Evergreen. So tell us your tales. We need them. |
