Andy Roof arrested for assault

Senior defensive tackle Andy Roof was arrested early Saturday for allegedly assaulting three people outside a Colorado Street residence. Pullman Police Officer Carl Bell said the case is still under investigation, and came on their "busiest night of the year." Bell said Roof allegedly assaulted three men in front of a house hosting a party. An ambulance responded for an unconscious subject at the scene, but Bell did not know whether Roof was involved.

Roof was reinstated by the university this semester after being kicked out of school for multiple alcohol offenses. He had two MIPs as an underclassman and was arrested for DUI in the spring of 2007.

During his time away from WSU, Roof spent 28 days at Lakeside-Milam Recovery Center in Kirkland and told The Seattle Post-Intelligencer in early April that he has been sober for more than 10 months. It was unclear whether alcohol was a factor in the altercation.

Sports Information Director Bill Stevens said Roof's prior trouble does not mean he will be treated differently than other any member of the team.

"The coaching staff is aware of it and is going to make a determination for the appropriate action," Stevens said.
