En'Wezoh/Hendrickson win
The room full of supporters waited expectantly as Scheller and Fry-Pierce entered the room.

He couldn’t sit still for the hour and a half before the big announcement.

Sunburned from weeks of campaigning on the Glenn Terrell Mall, Jay Hendrickson was frantically cleaning up the clothes and Hot-N-Ready boxes that covered his apartment, doing anything to keep his mind off the election.

“It has been the longest two days of my life,” he said.

When ASWSU President Brandon Scheller and Vice President Adam Fry-Pierce arrived at his apartment, there was silence in the room. Hendrickson looked at Scheller, and in the calmest voice he asked, “Did we win?” Scheller nodded yes and gave Hendrickson a giant bear hug.

“I’m ecstatic,” Hendrickson said. “I’ve never been so excited in my life.” President-elect Derick En’Wezoh, who was still grabbing food at Golden Teriyaki, was not in the room when Scheller and Fry-Pierce entered.

Realizing the irony of the situation, the room quickly calmed down as En’Wezoh approached the house.

When En’Wezoh entered the room, the small group of friends from Hendrickson’s fraternity, Delta Tau Delta, pretended to look sad and disappointed.

Scheller leaned onto the couch and, with the most sincere face he could muster, said, “I’m sorry, you did great. You put up a great fight.” A split second passed before, Scheller spoke the words En’Wezoh had been hoping to hear for months.

“You won,” he said.

A jubilant En’Wezoh leaned over and pulled Scheller into the air.

“Our first move is going to be to thank all our supporters,” En’Wezoh said “Two people cannot win an election by themselves. When we use the word 'empowering,’ we didn’t use it lightly. We are going to give the students the tools and resources to achieve all their aspirations at WSU.” Junior construction management major Dustin Shelton said he was excited to see En’Wezo hand Hendrickson’s hard work pay off.

“Jay deserves it. He’s the man. He’s worked really hard,” Shelton said.

Junior sport management major Kevin Witte said the duo has potential to do great things as leaders of the student body.

“It’s awesome. I just met Derick this year, and I think it’s great,” he said. “I think they’re going to do a great job leading the students this year.”
