Pajama Jam marks close of hall week Alpha Gamma Delta and the Residence Hall Association will host the free Friday event.
The Daily Evergreen Published: 04/08/2009 No need to get dressed up to go out on Friday, all you need is your pajamas and the urge to groove. The Pajama Jam, hosted by the Residence Hall Association and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, is free to all students. The dancing and excitement will last from 8 p.m. to midnight in Butch’s Den. “Spring Hall Week is going Greek,” said Quinn Ianniciello, RHA director of public relations and sophomore communication major. He said the Pajama Jam is a great addition to other Spring Hall Week events. “It’s great that we can collaborate with the AGDs to end the week with a bang,” he said. The RHA is distributing raffle tickets all week, Ianniciello said. The winners will be announced Friday night, and winners must be present at the drawing to redeem their prize. Ianniciello said an iPod is up for grabs, along with Bookie gift cards and other goodies. “That should be incentive enough to come, even without the lure of dancing and sleepwear,” he said. Ianniciello said no one has yet put stipulations on what is considered sleepwear. “We want to try and bridge the gap between Greeks and non-Greeks on campus, because there are so many stereotypes between the groups that exist,” said Kerri Iwen, Alpha Gamma Delta vice president of campus relations and sophomore hospitality business management major. She said they want to bring people from different backgrounds together so they can get to know people outside of their regular circles. For Alpha Gamma Delta, working with the RHA this year seemed like a perfect fit, Iwen said. “The elements that each side brings to the table will make the event that much better,” she said. Iwen said students can also enjoy snacks, and Coca Cola will provide drinks. “The logic is right, more groups involved to make the event happen more prizes and fun,” said Laura Hawkinson, sophomore communication major. She said the music will inspire the dancing, and requests are welcome. “It’s always more fun to dance when you know the song,” Hawkinson said. |
