Pullman Police find robbery suspect Witnesses in Wenatchee and Pullman claim to have seen a
man carry out the two robberies. The Daily Evergreen Published: 04/23/2009 The Pullman Police have a suspect in an alleged armed robbery at Check Into Cash on April 8. The suspect, Jeremy D. John, allegedly committed a similar robbery in Wenatchee on April 10, Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said. “We are confident we are on the right course,” he said. A little past 5:30 p.m. on April 8, John, a 6-foot white man wearing a dark hoodie, walked into the store located at 594 SE Bishop Blvd. He allegedly pulled out a pistol at an employee, who was the only person present in the store at the time. John allegedly fled the store westbound toward Safeway, with the cash in a plastic bag. John is a 38-year-old Spokane resident. At about 11 a.m. on April 10, John entered a Rent-A-Center through the back of the furniture store in downtown Wenatchee, Wenatchee Police Sgt. Cherie Smith said. John removed a .22-caliber revolver from his waistband and pointed it at an employee. After receiving cash, John fled the scene in a red Ford Explorer with Anthony Trostel, 50, who is also from Spokane. At the same time, members of the local drug task force were present at a nearby motel, Smith said. Through the license plate number, the task force found that John and Trostel were staying at the motel. In East Wenatchee, a witness told the police he saw John and Trostel running from the vehicle. The police found the vehicle, which had been abandoned, and searched two nearby houses, where they found no new information. At 4 p.m., the Wenatchee Police were informed that John and Trostel rode a taxi from East Wenatchee to the Wenatchee Valley Mall. John and Trostel were arrested for robbery and theft charges at the mall. John was also arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm. John fit the description provided to the Pullman Police by the employee at Check Into Cash, including a bandage on his left cheek, Tennant said. The Pullman Police sent a detective to Wenatchee to interview John and Trostel, Tennant said. Though the Pullman Police have talked to John, Tennant said the police would not discuss the details of the interview or potential motives of the case at this time. The Pullman Police expect to forward charges to the Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office sometime this week, Tennant said. John is being held in custody in Wenatchee. |
