WSU golfer Austin Hurt, a native of Bainbridge Island, won the 83rd Washington State Golf Association Men’s Amateur Championship.
Hurt was nine strokes behind leader, Derek Berg of Kenmore, when he set a new course record of 7-under-par 65 at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club. Hurt finished the championship with a 4-under-par 284.
Drew Reinland and Berg both finished at 3-under-par.
An awards ceremony was held at Palouse Ridge on Friday for Hurt, Reinland and Berg. The players were awarded merchandise credit for winning, which they can use to purchase items from the club’s pro shop.
