Koprivica to play for Serbia The Daily Evergreen Senior Nikola Koprivica was selected to represent Serbia in the World University Games, which will be held July 2-11 in Belgrade, Serbia. Koprivica, who is from Belgrade, captained the Serbia team at the U20 Men’s European Basketball Championship, leading his team to a gold medal. In a news release, Koprivica said he thinks he’s making good progress. ““It’s a pretty good feeling,” he said. “It’s not like last year when I played with guys my age, these guys are older than me. It’s a big challenge for me especially coming back after the season and these guys were playing here, plus the coach is new and he didn’t know me like he knew other guys.” Three other current and future Cougars are playing internationally right now. Sophomores Klay Thompson and DeAngelo Casto scored 9 and 10 points, respectively en route to a first-round win for the USA team at the U19 World Championship in Auckland, New Zealand. Incoming freshman Brock Motum is playing for the Australian team in the same tournament. for Serbia |
