The Evergreen is the student body’s voice

Here we go again. It’s August, and The Daily Evergreen is delighted to welcome you back to WSU. For those new to Pullman, welcome to your No. 1 outlet for campus news.

The Daily Evergreen is going to look a little bit different this year. We’re not immune to the tough economic times, and our papers will be slimmer until things pick back up. You’ll also be seeing a lot of new bylines, and hopefully, some great journalism.

We still publish Monday through Friday and distribute about 12,000 copies around the Palouse. We’re located in Murrow East 122, at the western end of the Glenn Terrell Mall. We’d love to see you stop by anytime.

Though we are all still students, we at the Evergreen strive to bring you a professional-quality community newspaper that is accurate, timely, comprehensive and entertaining. We’ll bring you all the news as we get it, in print, on dailyevergreen.com and at twitter.com/dailyevergreen.

If we miss a story or you’ve got a good idea for one, send it to us. Most tips can go to news@dailyevergreen.com or life@dailyevergreen.com. If you see an error in the paper and believe a correction is warranted, e-mail us at editor@dailyevergreen.com or call 335-3194.

Keep an eye out for Sports Weekends, our special section that comes out every Friday before a home football game. We’ll have tons of athlete bios, pics and stats on virtually every Cougar sport.

MiX, our weekend arts and entertainment guide, will come out every Thursday. Be sure to send in your events and funny overheard quotes to mix@dailyevergreen.com.

If you’d like to write a letter to the editor, see the opinion page for our policy. We have plenty of venues for your voice. You can also e-mail opinion@dailyevergreen.com.

Don’t forget that we are always hiring. Right now, we especially need sports reporters, hard news reporters, entertainment writers, feature writers, reviewers, columnists, cartoonists and photographers. We pay, and we make a great resume builder as well. You can be any major.

Aside from all the logistics, thanks for reading, Cougs. We do this all for you. We’re proud to be your college newspaper. Let’s have a great year.
