Grindley pulling through Whitman Sheriff’s Office is still investigating cause of her injuries but Grindley is recuperating. The Daily Evergreen Published: 11/18/2009 Kristen Grindley, the 23-year-old WSU alumna who was found in a pool of blood on Pullman-Albion Road early Wednesday morning, is out of intensive care and in satisfactory condition. Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers said that, as of Tuesday afternoon, Grindley was doing better but was not in any condition to speak. According to a Whitman County Sheriff’s Office media release, Grindley either fell from or was run over by a vehicle. She was found in the middle of the road with life-threatening injuries at about 1:40 a.m. Nov. 11. Since then, the department has been investigating the circumstances of her injuries. The sheriff’s department seized her boyfriend’s pickup truck and issued a search warrant for the couple’s home. Myers declined to comment whether deputies found anything, but he said they are working with the Washington state crime lab in the investigation. Myers said the sheriff’s department still has the truck impounded, but the boyfriend remains only a person of interest. He said they still have no suspects. “He’s certainly someone we’ve spoken to. He is a person of interest,” Myers said. “(But) no arrests have been made.” According to court house documents obtained by The Daily Evergreen, WSU Police arrested Grindley’s boyfriend on April 26 for domestic violence, but no charges were filed. Grindley was working at Closet Transfer in Pullman. And according to her Facebook page, she also worked with her boyfriend. “I’m currently still in Pullman, working at a clothing store that I helped open with my boyfriend and his mom!” she wrote. “I’m having a great time working, and I feel very blessed to have such a great opportunity to experience something like this.” Carol Ingles, owner of Closet Transfer, said their prayers are with Grindley, and they have a tribute basket in the store for her. According to reports, Grindley has been in and out consciousness, and Myers said the sheriff’s department has not interviewed her yet. |
