Volleyball brings in new recruits
Cougars will add three talented young players to the volleyball team for the 2010 season.

Three high school volleyball players from around the country have committed to joining WSU’s team for the 2010 season.

Head Coach Andrew Palileo announced recently that the Cougars will soon welcome current high school seniors Stephanie Hagins, Marcelina Glab and Heather Wilson into the program.

The 6-foot-4 Hagins hails from Elverta, Calif., and has signed a National Letter of Intent to play middle blocker for Palileo and the Cougars.

She is a senior at East Nicolaus High School and has already led the Spartans to a league championship this season, while also being named to multiple all-tournament teams. Hagins and her teammates have lost just one game this year and are currently competing for a shot at the state playoffs.

Glab has also signed a National Letter of intent, and she is finishing up her career at Watertown High in Watertown, S.D.

The 6-foot-2 middle hitter has been selected to all-conference, as well as all-state rosters. Glab is on her way to the state championships after securing a district title. Glab already has two state titles as a starter for the basketball team and has also qualified for state as a long, triple and high jumper for the track and field team.

Wilson is from Concord, N.C., where she has earned four letters in volleyball as a setter and outside hitter for Concord High. She has qualified for early admittance to WSU and will start her Cougar career this January.

Wilson has led the state in service aces for the last two years and excels in the classroom. A member of the National Honor Society, she sports a 4.31 GPA and plans to study in pre-veterinary sciences.

The Cougars, who will only lose four players to graduation from this year’s roster, look forward to bringing these young women into the volleyball program.
